Actually my second boss is not the person I am writing here about. I joined a life insurance in 2003, moving from a military business entity. My boss at that time was a lady, who was smart, deligent but soft. She had then moved to Saigon for her personal reason and I as a matter of fact was promoted to be team leader in central region. I reported to a lady, whom I considered my real boss and real leadership master! She is one year younger than me, but she is really really good in term of knowledge, skills, and behaviors. Her father is a famous person in the world of VN football. He was at that time Techinical Manager of HAGL FC, and also a well-known commentator on TV. I do think my lady-boss has been influenced by her father's talents, and I am influenced by her talents. It was my fate to be her staff as I was more mature, more knowledgeable and more skillful when I worked with her. She was not only my boss but also my master, master of leadership and management. It was she who told me what to do to be a good leader and a good manager. It was she who taught me how to work efficiently and effectively, even when I left my insurance company. It was she who trained me how to train other people how to be a manager. If she had not left the company, I would not have left the company then.She took her maternity for 4 months. Only 4 months, but it was too enough for another lady to make a damaged change. That lady changed everything we had set up and built up. She took my team as her commitments to sales: she would do what sales wanted providing sales brought her premium. Our solid team had been broken. My boss could not stand this, I guess. She returned to work after her leave, and immediately resigned. My destiny turned too.
Having left the company, I joined another company, where I used up what I had learnt from my lady-boss to work and survive. In this new destination, I have not learnt anything "big". This is the place I use my lady-boss' knowlegde, skills and attitudes to work and work. This is the place where I give knowledge & skills to take money. It is quite different from my previous company, where I gave knowledge and skills to take back not only money but also knowledge and skills.
Luckily, in my new company, I find another person to follow, who is my boss' boss. He is my third boss...
